Let’s talk about something a lot of us feel but don’t always say out loud: Imposter Syndrome. Don’t say it 3 times though, candy man might show up. All jokes aside.
That quiet or loud voice that whispers:
· You’re not ready.
· You’re not good enough.
· Someone else could do this better.
And somehow… it always shows up right when you’re leveling up.
What Is Imposter Syndrome, really?
Imposter syndrome is the feeling that you don’t deserve your success, even when you’ve earned it. It’s not about your actual ability. It’s about your perception of it. And here’s the truth: You can be talented, prepared, and still feel like a fraud at the same time.
Why It Hits Creatives & Entrepreneurs Hard
When you’re building something personal like your brand, your business, your vision, it’s different. You’re not just selling a product. You’re sharing a piece of yourself. So, when doubt creeps in, it feels deeper. “Will people like this?” “Am I doing this right?” “What if I fail publicly?” But what you’re actually doing is growing. And growth? It’s uncomfortable.
Let’s reframe the narrative. Instead of thinking “I’m not ready”, try “I’m learning as I go and that’s allowed.” Instead of “everyone else is ahead of me”, try “I’m building something unique, at my own pace.” Instead of “I don’t belong here”, try “I created my own seat at the table.”
The Kanvas Loft Mindset Shift
This is what I realized I needed to do to move forward and leave those thoughts behind. I am a work in progress, but a beautiful work in progress. At Kanvas Loft, I believe in creating environments that feel like you belong, even when your mind says otherwise. Just like fragrance transforms a space, your mindset transforms your experience.
You don’t need permission to!
· Start your business
· Post your content
· Share your creativity
· Take up space
· You already have everything you need.
Confidence comes after action! Waiting until you feel 100% confident? You’ll be waiting forever.
Confidence is built by:
· Showing up anyway
· Posting anyway
· Launching anyway
· Trying again anyway
·
Every step you take quiets that voice a little more. Ground yourself when doubt hits. Reach deeper into your faith. When imposter syndrome creeps in, pause and reset:
· Light your favorite candle, it better be a Kanvas Loft candle too… I don’t play lol.
· Spray your space with a scent that makes you feel calm and powerful.
· Take a breath and remind yourself: “I’m allowed to be here.”
· Create an atmosphere that supports your mindset.
Because energy matters. Please know and remember, you are not behind. You are not unqualified. You are not faking it. You are becoming. And becoming requires stepping into spaces that feel unfamiliar at first. So, the next time imposter syndrome shows up? Let it sit in the room… but don’t let it take control.
· Keep building.
· Keep creating.
· Keep showing up.
It’s real. It’s valuable. And it’s yours.
This is a letter to myself and for anyone else who has felt like me.
Love you!
